Here is a map I created of the Puerto vallarta Airport. I made it to help first time visitors to be prepapred ahead of time and know what to expect upon arriving.

When you land, you may have your plane pull up to the terminal, or it may stay on the tarmac and you will depart the plan via the steps and then take a bus to the airport. It sounds difficult but it is pretty simple.
Your first stop is Immigration. Have your Passport ready and make sure the forms they gave you on the plane are completely filled out.
Immigration will take one form, take half of it and give you the other half. DO NOT LOSE IT! 
Keep it in a safe place, you need it to depart Mexico.

After immigration, you will walk to the luggage area, receive your luggage and then head to customs.
